8 Ways To Get Ready For Christmas And Stay Sane!

Posted on September 09 2020

We’ve all been there, a week before Christmas, there’s still more on the to-do list than you planned and you’ve eaten a questionable amount of Celebrations from the tub - don’t worry, there’s no judgement here.

But what about making 2020 the year you absolutely smash it and can actually relax over the holidays? We’ve pulled together our top tips to help you get ready with ease so that you can have some well-needed relaxation time.

Make a list check it twice

Santa isn’t the only one who can use a good list to make sure everything is done. Getting all of your to-dos down on paper means you can see everything clearly and plan accordingly. One of our top tips is to get a little notebook to keep your Christmas related thoughts and lists in – although make sure to keep it away from peeking eyes.

Set your budget and don’t be afraid to stick to it!

A lot of us have had to tighten our belts a little bit this year! A thoughtful gift, no matter the size, often means more than buying something flash for the sake of it. Knowing what your budget is in advance can save a big headache later.

Don’t forget that budget doesn’t have to mean boring. There are lots of small and indie businesses that cater to all budgets. Which leads us on to our next point…

Shop small

Battling it out in the aisles of a superstore is never anyone’s first choice, so why not consider shopping small? Obviously, we’re a big fan of small businesses, and often you receive not only a great item but also excellent service.

If you’re looking for something special, here is a list of some of our favourites

Do good and make your loved ones feel good

As the end of such a surreal year beckons, a handwritten card will mean more than ever. Sending them to your closest friends and family will be a welcome surprise. Also, there are some beautiful cards available that support charities so that you’re helping those in need while spreading a smile through the post.

Plan Some Festive Fun For Yourself

As much as we want to make Christmas magical for our family and friends – don’t forget to look after yourself too! You might want to get out and enjoy a Christmas party, or maybe you want to light some candles and have a relaxing bath. Book some time in for yourself, or even order yourself a little treat from Santa – we won’t tell anyone.

Give The Environment A Gift And Save On Expensive Wrapping Paper

While we love a nicely wrapped gift, a lot of the shiny paper available can’t be recycled (eek!). When wrapping our advent calendars, we use brown paper to not only help the planet but also to give it more of a homely feel.

Want to make it look more exciting? You can get a lovely ribbon to tie around the parcels that can be reused. Also, if you subscribe with us, why not reuse your boxes – they’re the perfect size for gifts and fit through the letterbox!

Get Crafty (Or Let The Kids Help!)

If you love getting creative, why not incorporate it into your gift-giving this year? Give some festive baking a go, or maybe make some jam? If you want something that will last how about letting the kids spend some time with arts and crafts supplies. There are so many fun options!

Ask For Help If You Need It

Need someone to watch the kids for a few hours while you wrap presents? Or just need a hand in general around the festivities? Don’t be afraid to ask friends and family members if they can help – after all Christmas is all about the spirit of giving.

We hope this has given you a bit of inspiration on ways that you can have a more peaceful festive season! Is there anything you would add? Leave your top tips for us in the comments below!

Love,

Zoe
